Interhouse Games

So the interhouse games went pretty weirdly. Polo house clinched 2nd, I played singles for Polo House.

So just a brief introduction, the houses are, Polo, Darwin, Kaleb, Owens and Bryon. Events are Men's singles, Women's Singles and Mixed Doubles. But just not to over cheemify things, I shall use Boy's Singles, Girl's Singles and Mixed.

The overall winner, Kaleb House. Polo was 2nd and Darwin third.

Let me narrate the whole event. I had fun, overall, I think it was fairly organised but spoilspots ruined the event, I shall elaborate more later.

1st match VS bryon house~DRAW

I played singles~,well my opponent. I do't really remember what he looked like. I played him. It was a relaxing game not worthy of warmup, but I don't know why I felt tensed, like I couldn't screw up. Couple of mistakes, then clinched the win easily.

unfortunately, our mixed lost that game.

And OUR girl single didn't turn up!. So we had a default walkover in every single game. Spoil spot!

But they didnt have a girl single too, so it was a DRAW

2nd match vs Darwin house.~DRAW

To me, now looking back. It's like the main event of the entire whole competition. I faced off Jonathan Sim (which probably and undeniably is the strongest player there). The game went even, stalemate more of in a 21 point system manner. Without much of a gap in scores. Finally approaching the 10s, and then into 13-13. Weird la, I don't know why but I felt I just was not fated to beat him. Lost at 13-15. Well, Okay I guess. IMO, it ws the most spectacular match of the competition I guess.

Our mixed doubles won. and they didn't have a girl single too. So it became a DRAW.

3rd match VS Owens~Won (i think)

Well, weird. I think we were against and Owens. I forgot how our mixed doubles did.
But I think we won both of them. Yong Sheng subbed singles for me since I was pretty sure I didn't want to waste time playing against unworthy opponents ( i know I sound like an arrogant ass here), but ya, since Yong Sheng wanted to play.....he played.

Our Mixed Won too, I guess.

4th Match VS Kaleb House~Won (i think)

was oblivious to what happened here. playing the piano.

5th Match Vs Kaleb~Semi/Final placing battle.

Yong Sheng pulled off a win in singles. And then our mixed doubles got pwned quite badly by Kaleb's Mixed Doubles pair ( I shall elaborate more later..)

We thought this was the deciding round whether we could advance or not. We thought we lost and got last place (due to some miscommiunication, but fortunately, it turned out that we were still in the game.)

SemiFinals VS Bryon (AGAIN)~Won

As usual, Yong Sheng played singles and won that match against another random guy (which I have no item, I shall refer to them as "food".). Okay then there was quite A dramatic experience for me. Because we had to walk over our girl's singles, we HAVE to win our mixed doubles. And previously, our pair lost to Bryon's Mixed doubles. I was quite err worried, to the extent I was actually asked by Yong Sheng to spilt the loveydovey mixed doubles pair apart, and (cause some unhappiness), and sub the guy in mixed doubles because " I had a better chance ".

"the darn problem with mixed doubles".

1st, I have problems serving from the back with the girl infront. 2nd, I can't control a girl's mistakes. 3rd, it's very pressurising since I assured the team a win. Well, It was SCARY, infact it was SCARIER than fighting Sim, but I managed to win, just by a bit. 15-13, fortunately, I didn't lose that. I almost had to go to the extent of the girl going out of the court and I taking on two people. But it didn't work out. It just feels odd.

I managed to convince them to spilt apart because I was very determined I wanted to win the semis and get to finals and fight Sim once again to get a revenge. The best possible way to end the competition. Is a match between me and Sim, NOT a stupid mixed doubles game.

We won, but it was a nervewrecking experience. Especially when I was so bold to assure a win. Mixed doubles, scary, I shall never step into the realms of it ever again.

Simulataneously...

Darwin fought Kaleb in Mixed. With Sim in mixed doubles and he lost to Kaleb's Mixed doubles.

Kaleb's mixed consist of a "not bad" girl player (probably with decent strokes and nice accuracy without much mistakes) and a substandard guy (FAR from me and Sim) but 2 even players in mixed certainly beats one Strong one and one weak girl. Sim coudln't cover his girl well, and he got pwned.

As Darwin didn't have a girl single and therefore resulted in a DARN walkover. They lost.

Finals-Against the cheapo Kaleb House.

Wow, I would say CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. We were down 0-1 by default. And then they used their MIXED DOUBLES to win again. I didn't want to disturb our couple mixed doubles anymore (and I don't have the confidence to anymore with bad experience in the previous match...).

We lost our mixed

We lost. And their guy singles DONT want to play against me.

Nevermind, we lost already. But tell you the truth, you didn't know how much I wanted to vent my anger...

Generally...

It's not bad that we made it to the finals. Got 1st runner up, which is not bad, respectable. But it disappoints me that my planned encounter with Sim at the finals didn't work out, and we had to lose by such despicable means.....

Damn.

Overall, I had fun. Loads of fun, especially my match with Sim. Tommorow gonna have a rematch at CCK. Badminton is loads of fun, and my love for it has revived once again and the dust have been sweeped off inevitably after this event.

Overall, "may the best team" win didn't turn out to be very true.

The best team was Polo. But the best cheapo was Kaleb. They managed to take advantage of mixed doubles (which I 1) overlooked 2) had no CONTROL over...).

The best player was Sim undeniably.

It's quite sad that Team players are not allowed to join, because I would like to have a renedevous with the people I fought alongside in May. Even it would be harder to clinch any position, but it would be much more exciting, and challenging.

Not to be offensive, but I only went to fight Sim. The rest, were not my concern at all.

I skipped the prize presentation. I didn't like a 1st runner up medal (if there was one). because it reminded me of how we lost and losing in such a stupid manner.
